The William G. Squires Library endeavors to be “a vital and dynamic facet of the educational experience at Lee University.” It is a place of activity, collaboration and study, and it is dedicated to the active dissemination of information through service, teaching, research and learning.
Library personnel are committed to providing Lee students access to information sources to help them become successful in their academic research. The library faculty and staff consists of individuals who are experts at locating the most significant sources and are eager to teach students how to locate and select information effectively. They provide instruction individually and in classes. They work closely with classroom faculty to secure books, journal articles and other information resources required for courses. In addition, Squires Library provides students access to borrow resources from other library collections.
Squires Library offers seating for about 250 with a mixture of casual seating, individual study carrels and group study tables, as well as quiet study areas, group study rooms and a chapel. Including The LINK (a computer lab with 32 public computers), the library has about 65 computers students may use to conduct research, write papers, browse the internet and send email. Students may check out headphones and laptop computers for use in the library as well.
The library contains about 150,000 print volumes and subscribes to over 400 periodicals in print. Additionally, the library provides access to 32,000 online journals and almost 110,000 electronic books available through subscriptions to numerous academic databases and e-book collections. Subscriptions to some casual reading magazines and current newspapers are provided also.
An added feature of the building is the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center, which serves as the official archives of the Church of God and houses a large special collection of materials pertaining to the many aspects of the global Pentecostal/Charismatic movement.
