CHEM 423 - Chemical Applications of Group Theory and Lab An introduction to Group Theory. Topics that will be covered include symmetry elements and operations, point group identification, creating matrices, degenerate and non-degenerate representations. These topics will lead to a discussion of how this applies to chemical bonding, molecular vibrations and infra-red vibrational spectroscopy. Requires co-requisite enrollment in CHEM-421.
Prerequisites CHEM-282.
