PHIL 423 - Family Values: Ethical Issues Concerning Love, Marriage, and Parenthood This course provides a survey of philosophical questions and issues related to the family, such as: the nature of love (especially parental love); the nature and justification of marriage and its status as a private and/or public institution; procreative ethics; adoption ethics; the (un)importance of biological ties in families; the nature, scope, and justification of parental rights and responsibilities; children’s rights, etc.
