School of Theology & Ministry Graduate Studies

Terry L. Cross, Dean

Daniela C. Augustine, Director of Graduate Studies in Theology & Ministry

The School of Theology & Ministry offers students two different degree programs: The Master of Arts in Ministry Studies (MINST) and the Master of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies (MABTS).

Master of Arts in Ministry Studies

The MINST program provides courses that combine practical studies and practical ministry. For those whose undergraduate degrees focused on religious studies, this graduate program offers the opportunity to further the student’s knowledge and expertise. For those whose undergraduate degrees focused on disciplines other than religion, this graduate program can fill the missing components of the student’s education. The MINST program equips students to be leaders in the ministry that God has called them to be.

MINST courses are taught in a modular format that requires classes to meet only once a month and is convenient for working adults. Additionally, all class sessions are available through remote access for those who are unable to travel to campus. Our students are a diverse group comprised of women and men who range from recent college graduates to experienced ministers. The camaraderie between students and faculty, combined with the discussion-based classes create an exciting learning environment that readily leads itself to ministerial application.

The MINST (Master of Arts, Ministry Studies (MINST.MA) ) program offers students four tracks to choose from: Leadership Studies, Practical Theological Studies, Worship Studies, and Youth and Family Studies. The degree includes 18 hours of core courses for all tracks and 18 hours of courses specific to each track. In most cases, a student’s course of study concludes with a final project, though some students have the option to complete an internship as their final requirement.

The MINST Program is also available through Lee Online. For more information: Master of Arts, Ministry Studies (Lee Online) (MINOL.MA)

Master of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies

The MABTS is designed for students seeking advanced study in bible and theology. It is suitable for students with a passion for theological education, including those who anticipate pursuing academic training beyond the master’s level. This program’s students engage in constructive biblical and theological research as a way of building disciplinary competence. Predicated on the conviction that rigorous academic inquiry can enrich one’s service to the kingdom of God, the MABTS program thoroughly equips and deeply forms its community of scholars.

The MABTS program is offered as a 36-hour program for students with an undergraduate degree in a relevant field and as a 48-hour program for all other applicants. Students can pick between three distinct tracks of study: Biblical Studies , Theological Studies  , and Theological Studies, Ethics Emphasis . Courses are delivered on a weekly basis on campus and all class sessions are available through remote access for those who are unable to travel to campus.
