EDUC 701 - Doctoral Seminar in Professional Practice

This required introductory-level course for all incoming Ed.D. students at Lee University will explore the research and writing process in the academic/scholarly landscape, with an emphasis on identifying research questions and writing a literature review synthesis. Using group discussions, research papers, and individual reflection, students will analyze and evaluate contemporary issues in the literature relevant to their current professional practice in either K-12 or higher education. This seminar provides an early opportunity for students to prepare for the rigors of doctoral work from a Christian worldview perspective and to become familiar with the culture and expectations of the Ed.D. in professional practice program. All course activities are designed to help students develop connections with each other and with the faculty to create a community of learners and scholars.
